As soon as it starts to warm up, the desire to get out and travel tends to pop up. May's Paper Parcel was devoted to this love of exploration and included a pile of papers perfect for use in a scrapbook or art journal documenting your latest trip (or dream destination!).
Subscribers may have noticed their May Paper Parcel was just a tad bigger than usual this month, and that was so I could fit in these vintage airmail envelopes. Both have the classic red and blue stripes and one even has embossed postage.
Maps were a natural pick for any travel theme. Each Paper Pack came with a mix of maps and atlases ranging from the 1930's - 1970's.
The map theme continued with a handful of vintage map flashcards, including these green and blue United States cards.
International travel usually requires you pick up a few words of a foreign language or two, so I included pages from a few vintage language books as well as pages from old travel journals. The travel journal pages are blank so you can fill them in with your own trip details, such as where you went and how the weather was.
No trip is complete without a postcard. Each Paper Pack came with a vintage postcard from destinations around the world. The red, white, and blue luggage label just might be my favorite from this month. These original First Class baggage labels are from the S.S. United States ocean liner that cruised across the Atlantic in the 1950's and 1960's.
These vintage transit tickets from Seattle and Los Angeles have great graphics and are in excellent condition considering their age and fragile nature.
Touring is a classic driving card game. The game cards feature mileage, country and city scenes, and challenges such as collisions and running out of gas. I included a few cards from 1950's and 1960's versions of this game.
I am always looking for interesting vintage labels and this Paper Pack came with a couple, including a few airmail labels and the unusual red, white, and blue arrow label.
You can count on each Paper Parcel coming with a good selection of vintage playing cards. This month's collection including several that were passed out by airlines in the past as well as the Santa Fe Railway and palm tree designs.
The end result was a Paper Pack filled with lots of red, white, and blue and touches of green and yellow.
Like all Paper Parcels, this month's Paper Packs were wrapped with a little extra care and attention. Each was wrapped in an old map and an airmail envelope holding information on that month's theme. Safe travels ahead!
Paper Parcel subscriptions go on sale on the first of each month. Subscriptions beginning with July's Paper Pack will be available on Sunday, June 1st at 8am Pacific. Please be sure to check back on Sunday if you are interested in joining as subscriptions do tend to sell out, especially the 3 and 6 month subscriptions. Please also note this will be the last month I will offer 6 month subscriptions as 6 month subscriptions purchased this month will go through the end of 2014.
