Urban Trees is an evolving outdoor art exhibit on the San Diego waterfront that features 30 artists and rotates every year or so. The sculpted "trees" vary wildly in form, feeling, and materials. Two of my favorite are "Handstand" in the upper right corner which is constructed from bronze, and "The Spectrum of Time" in the lower middle which is comprised of tree trunk slices that each have a recycled glass center for light to stream through. Urban Trees 7 is coming to an end soon, but the eighth installment is sure to be coming if you happen to be a San Diego local or visiting any time soon.
And because the exhibit is on the waterfront, there are plenty of other views to take in and people watching to be had. Lance was a teeny bit jealous of the passengers loading the cruise ships that dot the waterfront.
