I don't have a lot of holiday specific decor in my home. My fall decorations are usually limited to some pumpkins and gourds sprinkled throughout our house and porch. However, I decided to add a little something extra to my office - definitely the most bright and colorful room in our house.
Next I played around with the cards, moving them back and forth until I was happy with the order.
You can use large alphabet stickers for the letters if you have them. I didn't have any that were large enough so I printed out the letters on kraft paper. I tried out a few different fonts and sizes, and ended up using the Claire Hand font in size 200. The most time consuming step was cutting out the letters, leaving some of the kraft paper as a border.
I used tape runner adhesive to attach the letters to the cards, but any adhesive would work - glue stick, double sided tape, etc. If you're handy with a sewing machine, it would look great to sew the letters onto the cards.
To finish the banner I punched holes in the corner of the cards and tied together with short bits of natural cotton string. You could also use twine, ribbon, or thin strips of fabric to string everything together. I hung the banner with just two strips of washi tape so I can easily remove it when it's time to move on to winter.
If you're not looking for seasonal decor, you could easily adapt this project:
- Celebrate with a "Happy Birthday" or "Congrats" banner.
- Spell out your name or initials to use as decor in your bedroom or office.
- String together meaningful numbers - the number of a birthday or anniversary, or birthday or wedding date.
- You don't even have to add any letters or numbers if you don't want to. A long banner of different cards in shades of the same color(s) would look awesome, especially if strung around a room for a party.
